We feel
that the best wines are a blend of grapes that combine to provide
complementary aspects to the wine. We have chosen vineyards that will
provide the different components that when blended will provide a rich
wine with soft tannins and layers of complexity.
Sundance Vineyard
Sundance
Vineyard, located in Mattawa, WA is owned and operated by Butch Milbrandt.
Sundance is Butch's oldest vineyard and has had many award winning
vineyard designated wines made from its fruit. The vineyard occupies a
north facing slope which helps moderate the intense summer sun.
Sundance's syrah tends to have blueberry and jammy black fruit
characteristics.
Wooded Island Vineyard
This
vineyard is on a steep west facing slope that continues down to the
Hanford Reach on the Columbia river. Owned by Terry Gilmore, this
vineyard has the potential to produce some of the best wines in the
state. The hot days are contrasted by cool evenings which helps with keep
the grapes' acid and sugar in balance. This syrah gives an earthy
undertone, spice and firm tannins to the wine.
Minick Vineyard
Dave
Minick's vineyard
is the coolest of the vineyards that we have selected. It is located north
of Prosser high up on a gradual south facing slope. The high altitude and
relative cool climate allows the grapes to "hang" longer and provide more
mature fruit. We are looking for blueberry, dark fruit and bright acid
components from Willard syrah.
Den
Hoed
Vineyard
The
viognier from this vineyard provides an array of tropical and floral
aromas and maintains a bright acidity. We use this viognier to produce a
100% viognier and also blend it with our syrah to produce a Cote Rotie
style wine.
